The Organising Committee for the 66th Annual Conference of the Japan Association for the Study of Educational Administration (JASEA)
Chair: Takashi Oda (The University of Tokyo)
We are delighted to announce that the Sixty-Sixth Annual Conference of the Japan Association for the Study of Educational Administration (JASEA) will be held at the Komaba Campus of the University of Tokyo from Friday 12 June to Sunday 14 June 2026.
This year’s conference programme is designed to offer a comprehensive academic platform, featuring:
Free (general) research presentations
Thematic research reports organised by the Research Promotion Committee
A practice-based Research Forum facilitated by the Practice Promotion Committee
A Research Forum for Early-Career Scholars
A Roundtable on the Future of Educational Administration Studies hosted by the Working Group on Future Planning
An International Workshop convened by the International Exchange Committee
In pursuit of deeper international engagement, enhanced scholarly dialogue, and more diverse modes of participation, poster presentations will be introduced for the first time. Poster presentations will also be available to members of BELMAS, with whom JASEA has signed a memorandum of cooperation, thereby strengthening our shared academic networks across regions and research traditions.
For the Public Symposium, we are honoured to welcome Tony Bush (Professor, University of Nottingham; President, BELMAS) and Deborah Outhwaite (Director of Studies, University of Liverpool; Chair, BELMAS). Drawing on themes of life, well-being, and disaster resilience, the symposium will interrogate the challenges and possibilities of educational leadership in an era of societal transformation.
Both distinguished scholars will additionally contribute to the Expanded International Workshop on 14 June, where they will offer scholarly guidance on preparing and submitting papers to international journals, as well as strategies for presenting research effectively in global academic settings.
We warmly welcome the participation of BELMAS colleagues and the full membership of JASEA, and we look forward to a rich and generative academic exchange.
While recent media reports have referred to seismic activity in eastern Japan and the potential risk of a major earthquake in the Tokyo metropolitan area, we have implemented thorough disaster preparedness measures as part of our regular operations. The conference venue is a seismically reinforced school facility with established emergency response systems by the organizing committee.
Participants are welcome to attend the conference with confidence and without undue concern.
