OTA 1290 Pediatric Adolescence Lab/OTA 1280 Pediatric Adolescence Lecture

Course Description 

Students will study normal human development and common disabilities related to childhood from birth through adolescence. OT domain and process will include theories for intervention and practice evidence. 

I led one session at the pediatric on-site clinic on 2/5/2024. The clinic address is,  Salt Lake Community College Jordan Campus 3491 West 9000 South Health Sciences Building, office 012. 

Reflection

Participation in clinic enhanced my  learning by allowing me to see in person and practice hands on what I am learning in class.  I was able to see the Beery VMI and the COPM being given.  I was able to practice therapeutic use of self with the client and was able to practice coaching them through emotional regulation skills. I feel more confident now working with a client, that is one way participating  in clinic will benefit my future practice as a COTA.  I also learned a lot about the Zones of Regulation Program, which I can use as I interact with children in my community.
