Biggest music festivals in the world

The art of live music is still going strong today. Some people go and catch live gigs in their local bars while others look at the tour schedule of their favorite artists and try to catch one near their town. And then there are big music festivals which people travel outside their countries for to see. According to Amsterdam-based DJ James Haidak, these music festivals often boast of an insane lineup featuring several major bands, DJs, and performers all packed in two or three days. Here are just some of the biggest music festivals in the world and where to catch them.

Donauinselfest

The Donauinselfest is considered the biggest open air music festival around the world. It features local talents as well as international acts from across Europe. It hosts almost every genre of music and is considered a celebration of music as it brings both artists and fans together in a three-day celebration. The Donauinselfest is held in a small island called Donauinsel Island, located right along the Danube river in Vienna.

Mawazine

Mawazine is a Moroccan word which means rhythm of the world. It is an international music festival that aims to promote the culture of Morocco, as well as giving local talents the chance to express themselves through music. According to James Haidak, some of the biggest western acts to perform in Mawazine are Stevie Wonder, Whitney Houston, David Guetta, and Iggy Azalea.

Summerfest

Summerfest in Wisconsin is considered to be the biggest music festival in the US. During the 11-day festival, 12 venues simultaneously host performances from all music genres. The event attracts at least 800 music acts to fill in the entire duration of the festival and close to 900,000 people attend each year.

James Haidak produced as a hobby for several years until, at the age of 23, he relocated to the Dutch capital of Amsterdam where he discovered his love for techno.
