A curious collection of islands off of the coast of Calcera; Gaulois has never once been part of the Verda Empire and nor is it likely that it will ever be. Easily a century behind the other nations, it is viewed as an archaic and mysterious place that few venture forth to visit. Its reputation isn't entirely unearned, as Gaulois' self imposed isolation has meant that it sits a good century behind in outlook compared to the rest of the continent. Even The Fayth has not reached its shores.
The regions in Gaulois are divided into small, independent kingdoms which are overseen by the High King in the High Court. It is said that the half-decade moots at the High Court are grand spectacles that rival even the most expensive and lavish of highborn Verdan parties. Despite their disparate appearance, together they have successfully repelled invaders for centuries and outsiders struggle to find it a hospitable place.
There is no Jaegerhaus in Gaulois, as there is not much need for one. Villages and towns take matters into their own hands, and will enlist the help of neighbouring kingdoms if required. However, it is not uncommon to find a Gauloi recruit among Jaegers along the mainland's coast.
Gaulois also has a strong culture of seafaring marauders, and is often the cause for why it is so difficult for the mainland continent to reach them. These scoundrels are experts in the narrow waters between the many islands of Gaulois, and often venture off to the west and uncharted south in search of adventure and plunder.
Taigh Àrd (teeg-ard) is home of the High King in the central most isle of Gaulois. It is a grand walled city with many twisting streets and terraced homes, where high up upon the hill sits the High King’s castle where the High Court is held, a stunning piece of medieval architecture kept in pristine condition over the centuries.
This is the one and only town in Gaulois open to the rest of Aynca. It is a rough, difficult and uninviting place for foreigners, even if it's meant for them. The cynics may suggest that perhaps this ill tempered town is intentionally hostile to outsiders, in order to put them off digging and deeper.
Characters from Gaulois are strongly advised to notify Game Team as soon as you book on to an event, so that you can be provided with the full Gaulois brief.
