House
Here is the pad that can be heard throughout the whole song, to create it I had a piano that constantly played C, E, and G with 5 types of reverb on the piano, them being; ChromaVerb, EnVerb, AVerb, SilverVerb, and GoldVerb. On EnVerb I haven't used a lot of wet sounds like I did on the other tracks, I instead did mostly dry as it sounded horrible with all of them being wet.
Here are some of the effects I used on the vocals, I used reverb and delay in order to ensure the vocals weren't bland, and I used pitch correction to keep them in the key I was working in.
I used the same effects on the main vocals but I also added an EQ in order to cut out the high end of the vocals to leave room fo some of the drums.
At the start of the track there is a piano that plays after every phrase, I added an EQ that reduced the high frequencies and boosted some of the low and mid frequencies, and I also added some reverb to add sme depth to the sound.
The main piano has an EQ to reduce low and high frequencies and also has a reverb to add more depth to the sound.
I did the same for the underlayer synth chords but I only cut out the high end frequencies for this instead of the low end as well.
I used the same effects as I used for the underlayer chords for some other synth chords as well.
The middle of the track has a piano that is much calmer than the main one, to do this I used the same effects I used for the underlayer and synth chords.
This is one of the synth leads I used, I added reverb to add more depth, an EQ to cut out the high ends, and I added distortion to make the sound less bland. I also panned it to the left ear.
Here is the other synth lead I used, however this one doesn't have distortion, and some of the low ends are cut out as well. This one is also panned to the right ear to fill in for the space left by the other lead being panned to the left ear.
This is the EQ for the synth bass, I removed a lot of the highs, and also at 57 Hz in order to make sure the kick drum wasn't blending in with the bass.
I added some reverb to the drums in order to give it more of an effect when they play as it fills in a lot more sound with reverb than witout.
At the start before the kick comes in I added an EQ and added more wet to the reverb. I added the EQ so there could be a bigger effect once the kick comes in and I used more wet to add more depth.
Here is the effects I used on percussion, I removed a lot of high end and some mid and low frequencies as I didn't want it to be as powerful when playing. I also used reverb on this to add more depth.
For the shaker, the only effect I used was an EQ to slightly boost the high frequencies.
For the snare, I also only used an EQ to reduce the high end and some mid frequencies.
Alt R&B
For the drums at the beginning, I reversed them and panned the snare to the right a bit, and the hats to the left a bit.
For the main drums, I did the same pannig but added a kick to the right as well, I also added reverb to make sure the drums had more depth.
I used the same for the main hats however I panned them to the left.
For some rhode chords I added an EQ to reduce low ends and reduce high end frequencies.
For the bass, I added a compressor that reduced the output gain a bit as it was powering over everything else.
I added a compressor onto some synth chords and boosted the output in order to make it louder as it was fairly quiet before.
I used a loading gun sound to make it sound like a song was being loaded into a record player. To do this I used a really harsh EQ which boosted all of the low and mid frequencies, and reduced the high frequencies. I also added a pitch correction and pitch shifterto make it sound a lot less like a drum
I used a horse shoe sound to make it sound like a play button for the record player was being pressed, to do this I used an EQ to make it sound like the button was being pressed so I boosted some mid and high frequencies, and to make it sound like the button was being released I used a really harsh EQ which boosted the low and mid frequencies and cut out the high frequencies.
Film
For the piano chords, I added an EQ to reduce some low, mid, and high frequencies, and added reverb to add more depth to the sound.
For the violin, I added an EQ to boost the high end and some mid frequencies, a delay in the left, and distortion to create a richer sound. The exciter adds more richness to the sound as well.
For one of the pads, I panned it fully to the right, and I added reverb and a little delay to set it back a bit and add some ambience.
This is another pad, but this one is panned to the left and just has reverb, I used a different reverb as it sounds better with this pad.
This is another pad I used for more ambience, I used an EQ to reduce some high and a little amount of low frequencies, and I also added some delay instead of reverb to create a different feeling with it.
This is a synth lead that follows the melody, I didn't add any effects as it sounded good enough as it was, but these were the effects that were on it when I loaded it up as a sound.
This is the piano that plays the main melody, it uses the same effects as the piano chords, reverb is used to add more depth to the sound, and the EQ has been used to cutout some unwanted frequencies
I used compression on this effect as it was very quiet without it.
I used an EQ and pitch correction on this effect to keep it in key and also cut out all of the frequencies that I didn't want coming through.
