The New York State Teachers' Retirement System (NYSTRS) provides retirement, disability, and death benefits to eligible New York State public school teachers and administrators, excluding those employed in New York City. NYSTRS retirees are guaranteed a monthly benefit payment for life. NYSTRS is one of the 10 largest public retirement funds in the nation, managing $137.2 billion in assets.
