The ITA has recently resolved a whole-unit grievance addressing inconsistent and incomplete APPR evaluations for multiple members during the 2024-2025 school year.
As part of this grievance, the following redresses will be in effect for the 2025-26 school year:
All parties will continue to use the 2023 APPR plan (find it below) with fidelity until a NEW plan is ratified via negotiations and voting.
Bargaining of a revised APPR plan will begin shortly after a new Collective Bargaining Agreement has been ratified.
All APPR evaluators have been reminded of this mutual agreement and have attended recalibration training this summer.
The ITA will deliver two refresher trainings on teacher responsibilities of APPR for members this fall, one for teachers using the traditional pathway, and one for teachers who qualify for the alternate pathway.
All members who choose to attend these trainings will have the option to be paid or receive inservice credit for their time.
The parties will collectively work to update all current APPR documents to reflect required changes enacted by the 2025 changes to Education Law.
The parties will work collaboratively to ensure stronger adherence to protocols for teachers who qualify for Teacher Improvement Plans.
The PPR&R Committee will work closely with Building Representatives and Department Leaders to pursue further grievances if APPR irregularities continue.
General APPR Information
Please note, our APPR resources are currently under review and revision. We will add revised resources as they are developed.
All members are responsible for understanding their professional responsibilities related to our APPR plan. The following resources are meant to supplement and support, but are not an adequate replacement for reviewing the plan in its entirety. We recommend all members review the plan annually.
