Tom Taylor Info

Thomas Taylor of Chicago was awarded the Rookie of the Year for 2022.   Tom started off his first High School track meet with Jeff Vorreyer in some of the worst possible weather conditions imaginable.  That was his very first meet and he stuck with it.  This XC season he had meets and was also able to step in and help as a clerk at the 2A Deerfield Sectional.  The top two 2A girls teams for Illinois came out of Deerfield so it was an historic meet.  Tom handled himself with professionalism and a demeanor that was calm.  I think calm is something that just naturally surrounds him so this is passed on to the athletes as they prepare to race.  Tom has been volunteering at the Chicago Marathon for 10 years and is happy to now be able to work track and field and cross country meets.  He is a welcome and needed member to our association and to the IHSA.

Congratulations to Tom Taylor.  Tom became an IHSA official in 2021-2022 and jumped right in.  He conducts himself as a seasoned veteran and worked many meets in the northern suburbs with partners and on his own.  He also worked a 2A XC Sectional this year as an additional clerk.  He was willing and able to step in and comport himself with professionalism and ease.
