I-makers Presentation
Artifact Description
This is a presentation I shared with my colleagues during our Professional Learning Collaboration (PLC). After considering the changes we are noticing in our learning spaces with regard to technology and impactful methods to support student learning, I facilitated a collaborative discussion on ways teachers can support students in evolving technology and learning environments they participate in.
Implementation
This presentation was shared with my colleagues during a professional learning session where we considered our students' learning preferences and shared innovative instructional practices to support learners as we reflected on best practices to effectively meet their learning needs. We discussed traits and abilities today’s contemporary learners possess and considered the technical skills they bring to their learning. We also identified ways in which technology integration can deepen learning and build upon students' technology skills to move towards fully immersing themselves to achieve deeper learning.
Impact
The impact of this presentation was two-fold. First, it helped us identify traits today’s learners bring and their preferred learning methods. Second, it served as a platform for considering meaningful technology integration that supports deeper learning and supports the development of students' contemporary skills in the areas of creativity, communication, collaboration, and critical thinking. This experience supports my ability to meet indicator 4a because this type of collaboration with educators develops authentic, active learning experiences that foster student agency, deepen content mastery, and allow our students to demonstrate their competency with technology and learning standards. It also supports my development with indicator 4d, modeling the use of instructional design principles with educators to create effective digital learning environments through our collaborations.
Reflection
Professional learning collaboratives with educators that include opportunities to identify student traits and students’ preferred learning methods are imperative to educators’ pedagogical and technological development. These considerations inform us of our learners' strengths and also identify areas where we can support them as they grow towards immersive technology users. It is important that educators are knowledgeable in effective teaching practices and meaningful technology models that are available. This ensures we are utilizing all the tools available to build equitable learning environments through the use of impactful technology integration as a way to reach all learners, deepen their understanding, and support them in developing the skills they need to effectively participate in their learning and prepare them for their future.

Mentoring Colleagues
Artifact Description
This artifact is an overview I created to share a mentoring experience with a colleague I provided 1:1 mentoring sessions with this year to support their transition to our online middle school team by utilizing effective technology integration in synchronous learning labs, support with digital curriculum planning, and best practices for utilizing our learning management system.
Implementation
I have developed and supported a mentor connection with a colleague on my online middle school teaching team. We meet weekly to discuss and troubleshoot education technology integration. I provide ongoing support to this new colleague in addition to our weekly meetings. in zoom where we troubleshoot technology integration using digital learning tools and activities to engage scholars.
Impact
Mentoring allows us to develop a collaborative relationship that positively impacts the learning environment by identifying and addressing technology barriers, modeling the use of tools to boost engagement and create effective formative feedback opportunities, and, providing on-demand support to immediate concerns and questions. It also creates opportunities to develop shared goals and serves as a model for best practices that ultimately develop skills and build confidence. Serving as a mentor helps me meet indicators 4b and 4c through supporting colleagues in their acquisition of digital tool knowledge and it also provides opportunities to consider effective ways to build impactful learning environments. Additionally, mentoring encourages a culture of collaboration through purposeful sharing and reflection and allows us to define educational goals for our online learning environment based on purposeful technology integration that equitably engages all scholars.
Reflection
Working as a mentor is a rewarding experience and supports the overall goal of providing outstanding engagement strategies and learning experiences for students to improve learning outcomes. It builds connections and creates a healthy professional learning network and serves as an impactful way to create a collaborative, supportive community. One that creates avenues for educators to receive the on-demand technology support they need to feel confident in their digital learning environments.
Overall Reflection
As I reflect on the indicators for being a learning designer, I believe I am effectively meeting Indicator 4a by facilitating professional learning collaborations that include discussions regarding technology traits and skills students possess as well as impactful pedagogical learning design focused on ways to engage learners with meaningful learning activities that are of interest to them. Additionally, serving as an education technology mentor strengthens my coaching abilities. Through these collaborations, I am also developing my ability to meet indicators 4b and 4c by modeling and advising on effective strategies for utilizing digital tools and technology integration to support and assess learners in equitable ways that ensure all learners can participate. I am still working towards indicator 4d, modeling the use of instructional design principles to create effective learning environments which is a part of our collaborations that I hope to deepen through guided discussions on technology integration frameworks that identify best practices for creating learning environments that immerse our learners with the use of technology that deepens understanding and develops their experience and expertise.
