ISTE Standard 1:7
Global Collaborator
Global Collaborator
First Resource Overview: In this article, Tannenbaum discusses strategies for promoting collaboration among students through digital tools, aligning with the ISTE Standard 1.7 objectives. An example given is "Color-coded collaboration is a slightly less scaffolded approach. Students have access to each other’s digital spaces but are guided by a color system to stay on their own individual digital space" (Tannenbuam, 2024).

Second Resource Overview: In this learning digital platform, it allows students to collaborate following the standards of ISTE standard 1:7. This is a great way to make turn and talks more interactive. For example, "one student acts as the artist and uses drawing tools to illustrate the concept being explored, while the other student acts as the writer and uses text tools to explain the same concept" (Pear Deck Learning, 2018).

Third Resource Overview: This article introduces educational technology tools that facilitate global connections among students, supporting the development of global collaboration skills. These technology tools align with the standards of 1:7.

Fourth Resource Overview: Roblox fosters global collaboration by allowing students to create, share, and play games with a worldwide community. By using Roblox Studio, students can work together to design interactive experiences, developing problem-solving, coding, and teamwork skills. Through game design and teamwork, students develop problem-solving skills, engage with diverse perspectives, and practice responsible digital citizenship—aligning with ISTE Standard 1.7: Global Collaborator by promoting meaningful digital collaboration and creativity.

Fifth Resource Overview: Padlet is an interactive digital bulletin board that allows students to collaborate in real time by sharing text, images, videos, and links. It fosters global collaboration by enabling students to brainstorm, provide feedback, and co-create projects with peers worldwide. Teachers can use Padlet to facilitate discussions, organize resources, and encourage participation in a shared digital space.

Sixth Resource Overview: ePals connects students with global classrooms to collaborate on projects, exchange ideas, and develop cross-cultural understanding. It provides a safe environment for peer-to-peer learning and encourages students to work on real-world problems alongside international partners, fostering global citizenship and digital communication skills.

Exploring ISTE Standard 1.7 has deepened my understanding of how digital tools foster global collaboration, communication, and problem-solving. Platforms like ePals enable students to connect with peers worldwide, promoting cross-cultural learning and global awareness. Similarly, Padlet provides a collaborative space for brainstorming, discussions, and resource sharing, making it easy for students to engage with diverse perspectives. Tannenbaum emphasized the importance of structuring online interactions to ensure meaningful collaboration. This aligns with Roblox, where students work together in digital environments to create, problem-solve, and communicate. Mindshift highlighted how peer feedback enhances student learning, which connects to Peergrade, a platform that allows students to give and receive constructive feedback. These tools support real-world skills like teamwork, digital responsibility, and adaptability. Moving forward, I plan to integrate Padlet and ePals for communication and Peergrade for peer assessment. By incorporating these platforms, I aim to create a more engaging, interactive, and globally connected classroom that prepares students for success in a digital world.
