ISTE Standards Project

Hello. I am Summerstar Soto, and I graduated from Augusta University in the spring of 2024. I received my bachelor's in elementary education. I had the privilege of taking on a long-term sub position at my school, where I student-taught. I was a fifth-grade ELA teacher. In that experience, I found the love of teaching ELA and how to make it fun and engaging. I also had the privilege of preparing students for their state standardized testing. In that wonderful experience, I knew instantly I wanted to be an upper-grade elementary teacher and teach ELA. I am now teaching private pre-k.  How did I end up here? Well, I knew I wanted to get my master's and specialist. I was able to have the opportunity to fast-track my master's degree by teaching pre-k. I am finding a love for the lower grades, but I hope to teach fourth or fifth-grade ELA after receiving my specialist. This portfolio will showcase each of the ISTE Standards, including seven references for each standard, along with a reflection on what I have learned through my research and how I plan to implement each standard in my practice.
