Hello! I'm Isela Horwart from Broken Bow, NE, and I'm a student teacher at Axtell High School.

Introduction:
Hello! My name is Isela Horwart, and I am a senior studying Agriculture Education with a Biology Endorsement and a double major in Applied Science with a Horticulture minor at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Throughout my time at the University, I have been involved as an officer and member of the ALEC Teacher Preparation Club and Future Teachers of Color. I have also been fortunate enough to work as an Orientation Leader, Ag Sack Lunch Ambassador, and Front Desk Assistant, where I have gained a deeper understanding of education and strengthened personal service to others. Outside of school, I have volunteered as a TeamMates Mentor, Operation Shine Big Camper, and Boys & Girls Club Leader.
My love for education is rooted in my parents' experiences, and my appreciation for agriculture started with my experiences in FFA. As an agriculture educator, I found that I could combine my desire to help others while also learning something new every day because agriculture is an industry that is always evolving. I want to work towards educating young minds and helping others expand their knowledge in the field of agriculture. This will lead to my fulfillment of having a career, where I can continue to learn and grow every day.
I am currently a student teacher at Axtell High School, NE, where I am teaching classes in Introduction to Agriculture, Plant Science, Animal Science, 7th Grade Ag Exploration, Welding, and Biology. I am active in helping with the FFA Chapter and assisting with Supervised Agricultural Experiences (SAEs). I am expecting to graduate in May of 2026 and will be looking to teach high school agriculture classes, and I hope to continue my master’s degree in leadership education.
Purpose of Portfolio:
This web portfolio serves as a place to showcase the standards for high-quality career and technical education (CTE) that I have refined through my experiences professionally and personally. As I have gained much experience from academic to personal growth, I reflect on how these experiences will serve me as an agriculture educator to meet the diverse needs of my students. The criterion for these standards referenced throughout my portfolio can be found in the "CTE Standards" page. Thank you so much for taking the time to view my portfolio!
