My Work-Based Learning Legal & Safety Plan I developed in my Planning Leadership and Experiential Program course at UNL shows that I am prepared to implement a Standards-Aligned and Integrated Curriculum. My Work-Based Learning Legal & Safety Plan ensures that the safety of the students is prioritized during their planned educational programs. In these educational programs, students can participate in authentic learning experiences that align with the agricultural industry. This plan meets high-quality CTE standards through industry-validated technical standards by introducing workplace safety training that is seen in current agricultural careers. The specific curriculum in this plan includes the Youth@Work safety curriculum, where students gain career-readiness skills to prepare for real-world job expectations. Another way this plan meets high-quality CTE standards is through authentic learning by providing students with real-world experience in the agricultural industry. Through supervised instruction, students can apply safety practices such as general on-the-job safety, specific occupational safety, etc. In addition, students can gain employability skills during the process through technical instruction under employers. This plan is an indication that I have the proper training to supervise students and can monitor proper documentation to ensure the success of these educational programs. I will incorporate these ideas into my Agriculture Education program by introducing them early in the school year to safeguard student safety and engagement.
My Supervised Agriculture Integration Plan I developed in my Planning Leadership and Experiential Program course at UNL shows that I am prepared to implement a Standards-Aligned and Integrated Curriculum. My Supervised Agriculture Integration Plan helps integrate work-based experiences for students and is aligned with AFNR standards to ensure measurable outcomes. This student-led learning experience allows for intentional career exploration with authentic learning. This plan aligns with agricultural industry standards because students have the opportunity to mirror real-world agricultural careers. Students can accomplish this by completing foundational and immersion SAEs to further their learning experiences. In addition, this plan meets high-quality CTE standards by strengthening employability skills. This experience allows students to gain skills such as problem-slving, communication, and workplace readiness, which allows them to prepare for career and college readiness. By interacting with industry professionals, students gain valuable experiences and knowledge that will work to prepare them for future endeavors. I will incorporate these ideas into my Agriculture Education program by being consistent with dedicating time to work on the SAE and its relevant components.
My Supervised Agriculture Experience (SAE) working at the Custer County Fairgrounds as a Fairgrounds Assistant from 2018 to 2021. This strengthened my workplace readiness through a real-world experience in agriculture!
