My Program of Study shows my understanding of effective program sequencing and articulation through a pathway that integrates career clusters under the Nebraska AFNR standards. The course sequence allows students to build foundational knowledge before advancing to specialized coursework in each pathway. Specifically, my program of study provides a clear direction for each pathway offered that builds upon each other. I have four different pathways offered in my program of study that students can follow: Plant Science, Animal Science, Agribusiness, and Ag Power Structure. Students begin with Introduction to Agriculture in each pathway, regardless of their chosen focus, to build a strong foundational knowledge before progressing in their chosen pathway. After students build their foundation, they can begin to participate in advanced topics within each pathway. As students progress, they can specialize in areas such as Greenhouse Management, Veterinary Science, or Welding 2, ensuring that their learning builds upon prior courses. In addition, my program of study demonstrates progressive learning because students gradually gain specialized skills in the advanced courses. As students move up in courses, they can refine their technical expertise and prepare for industry applications. I will apply this program of study to my future agriculture education program by using it to advise future students and help them visualize the multiple pathways.
My program handbook exemplifies effective program sequencing and articulation by providing a clear structure and pathway that students can take in agriculture education through classroom instruction, SAEs, and FFA Activities. The structure of this program handbook helps ensure that students develop well-rounded skills, knowledge, leadership skills, and experiential learning. This program handbook demonstrates the progressive learning that students build on to advance from basic courses to advanced topics. The SAE component of the handbook helps students gain a deeper understanding of industry-relevant skills that they can use in future careers. In addition, this program handbook shows effective articulation through supporting post-secondary pathways with coursework aligned to industry AFNR standards. The courses provided help prepare students to develop the experience and knowledge needed for education or immediate employment. I will incorporate this program handbook into my future agriculture education classroom to help effectively prepare students for success in multiple pathways and for future careers.
