The map shows the percentage of people that work as operators of agricultural machinery as a share of the total number of people working in agriculture in each Mexican state.
It also illustrates that in southern states of Mexico there are very few operators of agricultural machinery. For instance:
In Michoacan, 4 out of every 1000 people working in agriculture are operating machinery.
In Oaxaca, 2 out of every 1000 people working in agriculture are operating machinery.
Conversely, in northern states of Mexico, there are more operators of agricultural machinery. For instance:
In Tamaulipas, 50 out of every 1000 people working in agriculture are operating machinery.
This suggests that the agricultural processes in southern states of Mexico are more labour intensive compared to the northern states.
