Tactile Spectrograms

Birdsong & Spectrogram Resources:

• Merlin Bird ID and eBird Apps: Both apps are through Cornell Lab and fantastic educational resources. Merlin takes the spectrograms of the sounds around you and identifies the birds that come up. I highly recommend if you are hearing birds and want to know what they are! They provide pictures and some facts about each bird. You can also identify them based on description or pictures, but the sound is the most accurate. eBird is the sister app to Merlin and tracks the birds that people are reporting across the world. This helps you to find birds that you are interested in or know which birds have been spotted by you.

• The Peterson Field Guide to Bird Sounds has a plethora of spectrogram resources-- you simply look up a bird and it brings up a variety of spectrograms with both the auditory and visual aspects.
