Pushpanjali College of Education organized an informative and impactful Cyber-Bullying and Cyber-Safety Awareness Session aimed at sensitizing students to the growing challenges of cybercrimes in today’s digital era. The session was conducted by PSI Mr. Tyatyaji Sawant from the Maharashtra Police, who visited the college along with his team to educate young adults on safe online practices. Mr. Sawant highlighted the rapid increase in cybercrimes and stressed the importance of staying alert and informed while navigating digital platforms. He explained various forms of online scams, particularly those related to online financial transactions, and advised students on how to identify fraudulent activities, suspicious links, and deceptive social engineering tactics.

The resource persons also informed the students about the Cyber Helpline Number and clearly explained the procedure for registering cyber complaints, either online or by directly approaching the police authorities. The session encouraged students to be responsible digital citizens and assured them that the police are readily available to assist victims of cyber offences.

The IQAC of Pushpanjali College of Education organized a session on Value-Based Education to sensitize student-teachers to the importance of values in holistic development. The session was conducted by Mrs. Sonal Colaco, Assistant Teacher at St. Lourdes Convent English High School, Andheri, Mumbai. The workshop was aligned with the vision of the National Education Policy 2020, which emphasizes rational behaviour, scientific outlook, creativity, constitutional values, and the overall development of learners. Mrs. Shonal highlighted the significance of value-based education in helping students distinguish between right and wrong and in developing moral reasoning. She explained the difference between sympathy and empathy, noting that sympathy involves understanding another’s feelings, while empathy involves emotionally connecting with and understanding another’s situation. The session stressed the importance of inculcation and enhancement of values to build resilience, flexibility, a sense of equality, and responsible citizenship deeply rooted in constitutional ideals such as justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity.

The IQAC of Pushpanjali College of Education organized a seminar on Developing Effective Chalkboard Practices in Teaching on 31st January 2026. The resource person for the session was Ms. Venecia Naik, Teacher at St. Augustine’s English High School, Vasai West. She explained that while technology enhances learning, the chalkboard remains a powerful and immediate tool for interaction, clarity, and classroom engagement. Sharing her personal teaching experiences, she described how effective board work has helped her build rapport and maintain better communication with her school students. She also underlined the need for regular practice and consistency to improve handwriting, spacing, alignment, and overall board presentation. To make the session practical and relevant, she demonstrated examples related to Science and Mathematics, explaining how diagrams, formulas, headings, and stepwise organization can be effectively organized on the board.

Mrs. Sweedal emphasized that the role of the teacher remains irreplaceable, even in an era where artificial intelligence is becoming increasingly prevalent. However, she pointed out that teachers must continually update their skills and adapt to emerging technologies to remain effective in the evolving educational landscape. She also highlighted the importance of instilling ethical practices in the use of AI among students, explaining that completely banning or restricting AI may lead to the adoption of unethical means of using it. Instead, she encouraged future teachers to guide students in using AI responsibly, ethically, and productively. Mrs. Colaco demonstrated how to access and use applications such as Napkin AI, Magic School AI, TeachShare, Notebook LM, Canva, Suno AI, and the Google AI Suite. Through these demonstrations, the participants gained practical insights into integrating AI tools into their teaching practices.

The IQAC of Pushpanjali College of Education, Vasai (West) had the privilege of hosting Vasai Janhit Trust for an informative and insightful seminar on “POSH and POCSO Training for Teacher Trainees – Ensuring Safe Schools and Safe Teachers.” The session aimed at creating awareness among teacher trainees about child protection laws and their role in safeguarding children within the school environment.

The seminar was conducted by the esteemed resource persons Mrs. Smita Lopes and Fr. Prakash Rumao, representing the Vasai Janhit Trust. The session began with an orientation on child protection, emphasizing the importance of ensuring safe and supportive environments for children in educational institutions.

Mrs. Smita Lopes elaborated on the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012 and the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) Act, highlighting their significance in the educational context. 

Resource Person: Dr. Sharon Gonsalves

The resource person for the session was Dt. Sharon Gonsalves, an experienced clinical dietitian and nutrition expert with over 15 years of professional experience. She is well-qualified in the field of Food Science and Clinical Nutrition and is also a certified diabetes educator and specialist in nutrition for exercise and fitness. Dt. Sharon Gonsalves delivered an insightful presentation titled “Eat Smart, Stay Strong – Nutrition for Superwomen.” She emphasized the importance of balanced nutrition for lifelong health and highlighted how women’s nutritional needs differ due to physiological and hormonal factors. She discussed key aspects such as maintaining a healthy weight, engaging in daily physical activity, and the importance of regular preventive health check-ups. Dt. Gonsalves encouraged the students to adopt a personalized approach to nutrition, as individual needs may vary. She highlighted the importance of regular medical check-ups, proper hydration, sunlight exposure, and physical activity. She also advised limiting the intake of packaged and processed foods, sugary drinks, and emphasised that moderation is key to a healthy lifestyle. The session was drawn to closure with the message that “Healthy Teachers create Healthier Generations,” inspiring future educators to not only take care of their own health but also to promote healthy habits among their students.

The IQAC of Pushpanjali College of Education organised a a workshop on Vedic Mathematics with the objective of enhancing students’ numerical aptitude and introducing them to faster calculation techniques rooted in ancient Indian knowledge systems. The session witnessed enthusiastic participation from students across various departments, along with faculty members. The resource person for the session was an expert in Vedic Mathematics, who began by providing a brief introduction to the origin and significance of Vedic Mathematics. The speaker explained how these techniques are derived from ancient Indian scriptures and are designed to simplify complex mathematical calculations. Several useful techniques were demonstrated, enabling students to perform calculations such as multiplication, division, squaring, and finding roots with greater speed and accuracy. The interactive nature of the session allowed students to actively participate and practice the methods in real time. Tricks such as “Vertically and Crosswise” and “All from 9 and the Last from 10” particularly captured the interest of the audience. The session also highlighted the practical applications of Vedic Mathematics in competitive exams, mental math development, and everyday problem-solving. Students found the techniques not only time-saving but also enjoyable, which helped reduce the fear often associated with mathematics.

The F.Y.B.Ed. students of Pushpanjali College of Education visited National English High School, ICSE, Virar East, on 7th April 2026 as part of an innovative school tour aimed at observing the natural school environment and innovative pedagogical practices. The visit provided valuable insights into how school spaces can be transformed into interactive learning environments. This was followed by an engaging and insightful session on “Charged Classroom” conducted by Mr. Sreeyansh Shetty. He initiated the session by posing thought-provoking questions such as “Are students engaged?” and “Why do you want to teach?”, encouraging reflection among the student-teachers.

The session included a series of interactive activities designed to demonstrate innovative teaching strategies. The first activity was a Bingo game with contextual questions, where participants who completed “Quick Five” and “Full Housie” were awarded. The second activity involved the use of Post-it notes, where student-teachers responded to open-ended questions such as “Why did you choose to be a teacher?” and “What is a modern classroom?” and displayed their responses on the board. The third activity, “Explore It,” was a brain teaser where participants identified synonyms based on given clues. The fourth activity, “Challenge – Code It,” required participants to think creatively and decode meanings from a set of random clues. The final activity, “Collaborate – Escape the Ordinary,” involved constructing a paper pillar capable of supporting the maximum weight of books, promoting teamwork and problem-solving skills.
