Value Added Courses organised under the aegis of IQAC
Value added Course on E Content development:
The course was held from 3rd October -23rd Dec 2024. Students of SYBEd were resource persons for sessions on creating E books, Padlet, Video editing, Wordwall for evaluation, use of E discussion Boards, use of Canva for art work and Kahoot for quizzes. Dr Agnes Dcosta conducted the course.
Value Added Course on Apps in Education:
The course was held from 3rd Jan-16th Jan 2025. Students of FYBEd were the participants. The content included AI Tools, Creating Mindmaps, Creating Crosswords with Crossword Labs, Exploring OERs through DIKSHA, Exploring Virtual laboratory Olabs, Creating Educational games with Educaplay, Classtools.net and Creating interactive worksheets on Worksheetzone.org. Dr. Agnes Dcosta and Ms. Sonia Bombacha conducted the course.
Value Added Course on Mental Health of Secondary School Students:
Ms Sanika Asolkar effectively conducted the course. It was held in Blended Mode from 15th April to 31st July 2025. Students accessed modules related to different aspects of mental health of adolescents. These modules were prepared based on Manodarpan, an initiative of Ministry of India under the Atma Nirbhar Bharat Abhiyan. Canvas.instructure was used as the LMS to share resource material in form of videos, pdfs, discussion exercises and quizzes.
Value Added Course on Communication Skills:
Sr Delicia Fernandes and Ms Steffi Colaco conducted a course on Communication Skills. The course aimed at improve listening, public speaking, writing, and interpersonal skills while fostering confidence in diverse communication scenarios. The activities focused on developing clarity, tone, and articulation in speech, effective use of body language, gestures, and facial expressions and structuring written communication through emails, reports, and other professional documents like one’s resume. Dr Cerena Dcunha, Associate Professor at St Teresa’s College of Education conducted a course from17th March- 9th April 2025 on English Grammer Pro-Beginners to Advanced.
MOOC on IKS:
Sonia Bombacha successfully conducted a value-added course on Indian Knowledge systems online via Canva platform from 3rd February 2025 -22nd February 2025. The course was structured into four comprehensive modules, each comprising of informative videos, detailed articles, and a quiz at the end of the module. The course aimed at enriching the participants understanding of India’s rich and diverse traditional knowledge systems. Upon completion of the course, all participants attempted the final quiz. The students were awarded certificates, acknowledging their successful participation and understanding of the subject.
Seminar on Navigating Mental Health for pre-service teachers

Resource Person: Ms. Olivia Almeida
The IQAC of Pushpanjali College of Education organized a workshop on “Navigating Mental Health for Pre-Service Teachers” for the students of F.Y.B.Ed. on 25th January 2025. The session was conducted by Ms. Olivia Almeida, who provided valuable insights into the importance of mental well-being in the teaching profession. She introduced practical coping strategies such as mindfulness practices, effective time management, maintaining a positive mindset, and seeking peer support. The resource person encouraged future educators to be empathetic, observant, and responsive to the mental health needs of their students. The workshop was highly interactive and insightful, equipping student-teachers with essential skills to manage stress and foster well-being in their professional journey.
From Awareness to Action-Session on Environmental Awareness
Resource Person: Lisbon Ferrao

A session on “From Awareness to Action: Empowering Change for the Environment” was organized for the students of F.Y.B. Ed at Pushpanjali College of Education on 30th January 2025. The session was conducted by Mr. Lisbon Ferrao, an environmental enthusiast and representative of the Luna Story Foundation. Mr. Ferrao began the session by sharing insights into the work carried out by his organization, particularly their beach cleanup drives conducted across various beaches of Vasai. He highlighted the growing concern of plastic pollution and explained how plastic waste remains in the ocean bed for several years, causing severe harm to aquatic life and marine ecosystems. The session emphasized the importance of environmental awareness and responsible citizenship. Mr. Ferrao urged the student-teachers to take initiative in spreading awareness about sustainable practices and reducing plastic usage in their daily lives. He also stressed the crucial role of teachers in nurturing environmentally conscious students who are committed to protecting nature and contributing positively to society.
Visit to National English High School and Workshop on Charged Classrooms
The students of F.Y.B.Ed had the opportunity to visit National English High School, ICSE, Virar East, on 11th March 2025. The visit aimed at providing students with practical exposure to the functioning of a school environment along with innovative teaching strategies. The session and school tour were guided by Ms. Gaurangini Kulkarni, who warmly welcomed the students and oriented them to the school’s functioning. This was followed by an insightful session on “Charged Classroom” conducted by Ms. Kulkarni. The session focused on making classrooms interactive, engaging, and student-centered. She demonstrated various innovative teaching methods and conducted activity-based learning exercises. Special emphasis was laid on game-based evaluation strategies across different subjects, enabling future teachers to assess learning in an enjoyable and effective manner. The session was highly interactive and provided practical ideas that student-teachers can implement in their own teaching practices to keep learners actively engaged.
Session on Global Perspectives

A session on “Global Perspectives” was organized at Pushpanjali College of Education on 22nd March 2025 for the students of F.Y.B.Ed. The session was conducted by Ms. Sophiya Gonsalves, an English and Global Perspectives Educator at Chaturbhuj Narsee ICSE School, Mumbai. She provided insights into the practical implementation of Global Perspectives in the classroom and showcased the handbooks and learning materials currently used in her school. Through relevant examples, she explained how integrating global perspectives into teaching enables students to become more empathetic, culturally aware, and responsible global citizens.
Session on Financial Literacy

Sundaram Mutual Finds in collaboration with Growvest
Date: 25th August 2025
Pushpanjali College of Education in collaboration with Growvest organized a session on financial well‑being and literacy for its S.Y.B.Ed students on 25th August 2025. The aim was to enhance students’ understanding of personal finance, investing principles, and strategies to secure financial health in the face of inflation and risk. The resource person for the day was Mr Ritesh Patel of Sundaram Assets Company. Mr Patel used the analogy of a cricket match to effectively connect with students’ lives, and he frequently emphasised the importance of maintaining a diversified investment portfolio. He explained asset allocation between those assets that grow in value and those that generate income; Mr Patel advised students on investing wisely to protect against inflation. He elaborated on equity fund categories including multi‑cap, small‑cap, and hybrid funds. The resource person also cautioned the students about digital scams and how to avoid them, and answered students’ questions in an interactive discussion.
Session on Mental Wellness
Resource Person: Dr. Leeyan Dias
Date: 9th September 2025
Pushpanjali College of Education organized a valuable session on mental wellness for its S.Y.B.Ed students on Wednesday, 10th September 2025. The resource person for the session was Dr. Leeyan Dias, a senior therapist and founder of HOPE—a centre for mental wellness and child development. Dr. Leeyan guided the students to distinguish between good stress and bad stress, emphasizing how the former is essential for growth. She also addressed the challenges teachers often encounter in their professional lives and offered strategies for coping and moving forward. In an interactive exercise, students selected a movie title that best represents them as teachers; their responses sparked lively conversation. Dr. Leeyan stressed the importance of self‑awareness in teaching—understanding one’s personality, strengths, and limits—and provided practical advice on managing work stress, avoiding burnout, and building healthy relationships with colleagues and students.
