IQAC organised the following activities in 2022-23

Workshop on Making Google sites

On 21 November 2022, the IQAC organised a workshop on Creating an Educational website. The workshop was conducted in collaboration with upEducator, a Google Partner for Education.

Resource Person Ms Sonam Chavan guided students and faculty to create a website, add carousel images and social media buttons and publish the website. The hands-on experience  helped to create a platform that functions as a professional portfolio that can be used to showcase Academic Material, Student Success Stories, Classroom Activities & Student Projects. Ms Sonam Chavan  also helped students to convert presentations to videos.

The top performer of the workshop Ms Glysam Ferreira  got  a 100% scholarship for Google Certified Educator Certification Course.

Value added Certificate Course in E Content Development conducted from 5 to 17Jan  2023

Students of FYBEd participated in  the Value added Course. The input sessions were held from 5 to 17 January 2023. However the resources could be prepared and submitted by Feb 2023. E resources were prepared using Kahoot, Wordwall, Padlet, Storyjumper and Canva. Students made videos from Powerpoint presentations. Ms Winona Gomes, Ms Rovina DMello, Ms Stiyana Fernandes, Ms Sheryl Dcunha, Ms Glysum Ferreira, Ms Sabah Khan. Ms Yogita Singh, Ms Supriya Pereira were the resource persons. Dr Agnes DCosta coordinated the course which was conducted in blended mode. 

Workshop on Stress Management

On 4 February 2023, our alumnus Ms Aishwarya Jadhav conducted a workshop on Stress Management. She led the participants to understand the stress cycle, identify stressors , differentiate between stress and eustress . The students learned techniques of pranayama and yogasanas which can help to address stress. Ms Aishwarya elucidated the need for teachers to handle their own stress with equanimity. 

Workshop on Artificial Intelligence

A two day workshop on Artificial Intelligence was conducted by Dr Agnes Dcosta on 15 and 16 Feb 2023. The students learned the basics of AI and had hands-on experience in training a model for Machine Learning. They also explored some AI based platforms like ChatGPT and had a  discussion on the significance of AI in Education.

Webinar on Preparing for 4th Cycle of NAAC Accreditation

On 4 March 2023, the IQACs of St. Teresa’s Institute of Education, Santacruz and Pushpanjali College of Education, Vasai jointly organised a webinar on the theme ‘Preparing for the 4th cycle of NAAC Accreditation’. The resource person was Dr Sunita Wadikar, Former Principal of MES Pillai’s College of Education and Research.  About 75 faculty members from Higher Education Institutions benefitted from the webinar as it fostered an intellectual discussion about NAAC Assessment and Accreditation. The programme was envisoned by Dr. Sr. Tanuja Waghmare (Principal of St. Teresa's Institute of Education) and Sr Delicia Fernandes(Principal In charge of Pushpanjali College of Education). 


Value Added Course on Apps in Education

A Value Added Course on Apps in Education was conducted from 11  to 15 March 2023. Apps like Flippity, Jeopardy, Mindmup, Thinglink were demonstrated to students. They used the Apps to create interesting learning resources.

These were duly shared on the Google Classroom. Students used Arloopa to make videos incorporating Augmented Reality. They also created E portfolios using Google sites and explored the use of Diksha app and online laboratories.

Value added Course on Communication Skills

A Value added Certificate Course in Communication Skills was organised in March-April 2023. The main areas covered included Basics of Communication , group communication, public speaking, skills in listening, speaking and writing and use of grammar in oral and written communication. The resource persons for the sessions were Sr Delicia Fernandes, Dr Cerena Dcunha, Dr Agnes Dcosta and Ms Steffi Dcosta.

Inaugural Session

Mr. John Leonard shared his experiences and reflections to engage students in content, engage students in review, to maintain documents. He shared how technology can be used to work in a smart way to organise one’s work and to collaborate with others. . He also shared how AI tools like ChatGPT can be leveraged to make learning effective. Simultaneously he also offered a word of caution about the use of AI based platforms emphasising that AI is a tool and not a replacement for teachers 

Dr Gauri Hardikar discussed the dimensions of holistic development emphasizing how education for holistic wellbeing is a synergistic outcome of a blend of physical, mental, social and emotional development. She drew from the ancient Indian system of education where the 64 kalas and 14 vidyas ensures a holistic multi-disciplinary education. She then explained Dr. Martin Seligman’s PERMA Model which revolves around the five core elements of happiness and well-being viz. Positive Emotion, Engagement, Relationships, Meaning, and Accomplishments. 

Ms Upasana elucidated the basic aspects of quality education emphasising how quality education can lead to empowerment and help to promote peace and well-being. She shared some useful insights like making levelled worksheets to ensure differentiated instruction. Other useful strategies based on constructivism were explored. She explored the nuances of a robust learning environment sharing useful tips to ensure a sound learning environment. Ms Upasana shared some best practices such as ‘Making Learning Visible’ which gives students a platform to showcase their learning and ‘Good Work Project with Learning Buddies’ where students learned through peer interaction. 

Faculty discussions on Contemporary Changes in Education

On 16 May 2023, the faculty had a discussion on teaching learning and evaluation. The discussion mainly centred around aspects like PLOs and CLOs, multi modal approaches to learning and constructivist approach as applied to Teacher Education. These discussions were led by IQAC coordinator Dr Agnes Dcosta. The faculty also deliberated on recent documents of UGC such as National Higher Education Quality Framework and National Credit Framework. Faculty members shared some activity based techniques that they have used in their teaching learning.


Memorandums of Understanding signed in 2022-23

Memorandums of Understanding(MoUs) signed with educational institutions and institutions committed to social causes help the college to move towards set goals in a more structured manner. Pushpanjali College of Education has signed formal MoUs with

Course on Mental Health of Secondary School  Students

A course on Mental Health of Secondary School students was conducted from 29June to 19 August 2023. Dr Agnes Dcosta and Ms Sanika Asolkar coordinated the course which was deployed through canvas.instructure paltform in a blended mode. Students used the four quadrant approach to learn different aspects of mental health. In the face to face sessions Dr Mabel Pimenta interacted with the students on 10 August 2023 to help them understand their roles as counselors. 

Workshop on Making Online Courses

 On 2nd September 2023, free workshop on Creating Online Courses was organised by Pushpanjali College of Education and St. Teresa’s Institute of Education. This was as a part of the MoU signed between both colleges. Dr Agnes Dcosta, Associate Professor, Pushpanjali College of Education was the resource person for this two-hour workshop which was attended by 20 participants representing four Teacher Education Institutes.

Dr Agnes Dcosta first demonstrated the features of the online platform canvas.instructure and encouraged participants to think in terms of the four quadrant approach of video, text, self-assessment and discussions.

Next the resource person guided the participants to create their own accounts on the platform and helped them prepare a course with basic modules. Various features like adding pages, assignments, quizzes, E discussions, uploading learning material, embedding videos, links and rubrics were demonstrated. Participants had a hands-on experience and were successful in creating a course incorporating different features. The resource person fielded queries and also gave valuable  tips to ensure the best outcome of the course. She guided how to add students to a course and also check the course analytics to see how students were performing.


Academic Audit

An academic audit was held on 28 Aug 2023. Prof. Dr Prashant Kale (I/C Principal of Gokhale College of Education, Parel), Dr Sunayna Kadle (I/C Principal of Gandhi Shikshan Bhavan’s Surajba College of Education) and Dr Cerena Dcunha (Asso Professor of St Teresa’s Institute of Education, Santacruz) visited the college and scrutinised the various documents. They interacted with the faculty and staff and discussed various aspects of academic activities. They presented the Audit Report wherein they appreciated the efforts of the college and offered constructive suggestions for further improvement.
