Curriculum Planning
Curriculum planning meetings were held to discuss the plans for the curriculum transaction. Multi modal approach was planned for each theory course. Workshops in learning outcomes, lesson planning, classroom teaching skills, designing an deploying a unit test, Models of teaching were conducted. On 6 July 2019 a workshop in use of puppets was organised.
Teaching Learning and Evaluation
LMS like Edmodo, Schoology, Eliademy were employed for Blended Learning. Student led seminars were held in the Course Knowledge and Curriculum. Workshops on Models of Teaching and innovative teaching methods were conducted. On 3 Oct 2019 Ms Audrey Carvalho oriented students to IB and IGCSE Board curriculum. Students visited National English High School on 14 February 2020 and were oriented to the ICSE Board. A workshop on Charged Classrooms was conducted by Ms Gaurangini Kulkarni. On 7 January 2020, Prof. Marissa Rollnick of Marang Centre for Mathematics and Science Education, University of Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa visited the college and delivered a lecture on Essential Elements of Teaching for Meaning. Internship was successfully completed with students getting an experience of conducting lessons, unit test, co-curricular activities and observing the general working of schools.
Research and Outreach
Outreach programmes included working with NGOs involved in social and environmental causes and volunteering at community centres. A community camp was conducted at Bosco Samajik Vikas Sanstha, Jawahar where students conducted life skills sessions for tribal students. Students participated in beach cleaning as part of Swacchata Abhiyan.
April- May 2020 was a crucial period as teachers were gearing for online teaching. The college trained around 480-500 school and Junior College teachers in the use of online teaching. These courses were conducted via Google classrooms.
Student support and progression
A Certificate Course in Counselling Skills was successfully completed by 50 S.Y.B.Ed students under the guidance of Ms Sonal Naik, a counselor. In October -November 2019 students of S.Y.B.Ed successfully completed a five week long Massive Open Online Course on 'Introduction to Technology Enabled Learning' conducted by Commonwealth of Learning and Athabasca University, Canada through the MooKIT platform. Symposium on Healthy Food habits by nutritionist Rishika Cerejo was held in September 2019 to mark Nutrition month. A session on ‘Nurturing a growth mindset’ was conducted by Ms Audrey Carvalho to initiate the newly admitted students. Dr. Cindrella DMello guided the students regarding the Teacher Eligibility Test. Regular mentor-mentee meetings were held throughout the year. Placement activities were conducted to guide the students regarding placement. Some of the planned activities were called off due to the lockdown announced in March 2020. Students were deputed to represent the college in various inter collegiate activities. In all, 15 prizes were won by students.
