Ipswich Romanian Community is delighted to be taking part in The Big Afternoon 2026, a free family and community event at the New Wolsey Theatre. This special afternoon promises live music, games, performances, arts and crafts, and plenty of fun for all ages.

We are proud to represent the Romanian community in Ipswich and to celebrate the diversity, friendship, and community spirit that make our town so special. We look forward to meeting new people, sharing positive moments, and enjoying a wonderful day together with families from across the local area.

Entry is free! This year marks 100 years since the General Strike, when 1.7 million workers stood together against wage cuts and in support of better conditions for 1.2 million miners.

Join us on 3rd May 2026 at the Ipswich May Day Festival, where we will march from the town centre to Alexandra Park in solidarity with trade unions that continue to protect workers’ rights today.

After the march, enjoy a family-friendly afternoon and evening filled with live music, food, stalls, rides, games, and a great community atmosphere. We look forward to being there and standing together for unity, fairness, and community spirit.

Want to learn something new and get involved in a community project?  

Ipswich Romanian Community, in collaboration with ICR FM – Ipswich Community Radio, is offering a free training program for Romanian speakers in Ipswich and Suffolk.

What you’ll learn:  

• How a radio show is created and managed

• Studio equipment and technical skills

• Communication, presentation, and teamwork

• Planning and production

When: Every Wednesday for 8 weeks, starting 29 April  

Time: 19:00 – 22:00

Location: Ipswich Community Radio – Tower Street Studios

English is not required, but it can be helpful.

Benefits:  

• Practical media and communication skills

• More confidence in speaking and presenting

• Experience in a real community-impact project

• Useful for personal and professional growth

Participation is unpaid, but places are limited.

Ipswich Romanian Community will cover the full cost for selected participants.

The Romanian Community in Ipswich, together with Jobcentre Plus, invites you to FREE support and personal development sessions designed to help with integration and reduce isolation.

On 26 July 2025, we’re excited to announce our participation in the Summer Family Fair event, organised by our friends at BME Suffolk Support Group.

The event will take place from 1–4 PM, and we’re looking forward to reconnecting with everyone there! 

On 18 September 2025, we will be taking part in the Annual Networking Event focused on cancer prevention.
Organised by Community Action Suffolk, this event offers a valuable opportunity to hear powerful personal stories, build meaningful connections, and engage in important conversations.

It also aligns closely with our Smoking Free Project, as we are well aware that, unfortunately, lung cancer can be caused by smoking. We’re proud to contribute to raising awareness and supporting prevention efforts.

On 23 October, we will be participating in the Healthy Together Roadshow – a great opportunity to discover the wide range of support activities and resources available to everyone.
