At Ipswich Romanian Community (IRC), we are proud to offer structured Volunteer Officer positions for individuals passionate about community involvement, cultural representation, education, youth engagement, wellbeing, and inclusion.
These roles are ideal for proactive individuals looking to deepen their contribution to the community, gain valuable leadership experience, and be part of a collaborative team working towards positive change.
These positions are voluntary (unpaid).
A minimum commitment of 30 hours per month is required.
Applicants must have either:
– Relevant professional or academic experience in the role they are applying for, or
– A minimum of 6 months of active volunteering with Ipswich Romanian Community.
These roles are reviewed regularly and come with support, mentoring, and recognition, including access to trainings, certificates of appreciation, and the potential for further involvement in the organisation’s structure.

Description:
Supports the design, implementation, and monitoring of community-based initiatives such as health, education, and wellbeing programmes.
Expectations:
Contribute to planning and delivering small and large-scale projects
Collaborate with partner organisations
Collect feedback and report on project outcomes
Tasks:
Assist in creating project timelines and goals
Coordinate volunteers or resources as needed
Monitor project impact and record engagement
Description:
Responsible for managing internal volunteer records, onboarding new volunteers, and supporting staff well-being.
Expectations:
Maintain up-to-date volunteer records and timesheets
Ensure proper induction and exit process for volunteers
Support conflict resolution and communication
Tasks:
Organise inductions, one-to-ones, and check-ins
Prepare volunteer agreement forms
Help with role allocation and structure
Description:
Manages public image and messaging of the organisation through internal and external communication.
Expectations:
Draft public statements, newsletters, and press releases
Support clarity in internal communication
Help maintain relationships with media and stakeholders
Tasks:
Write short articles or community updates
Assist with branding and visibility strategies

Description:
Responsible for identifying fundraising opportunities and building long-term relationships with partners and donors.

Leads activities and projects that promote cultural awareness, inclusion, and integration of the Romanian community in the UK.

Organise Romanian holiday events or talks

Description:
Supports the planning and delivery of all in-person or online events, including the technical and logistical aspects.
Expectations:
Manage venues, materials, schedules, and risk assessments
Ensure proper setup, signage, and documentation
Coordinate volunteer roles during events

Book spaces, prepare materials, set agendas
Liaise with performers or speakers

Description:
Coordinates youth-focused programmes, workshops, or support initiatives targeting Romanian youth and families.

Creates and schedules content for IRC’s social media platforms, ensuring positive and consistent online presence.
Expectations:
Maintain regular posting on Facebook, Instagram, and other platforms
Design visual content in line with the organisation’s branding
Respond to messages or comments when needed
Tasks:
Create post templates and content calendars
Monitor post reach and engagement
Suggest new trends or campaigns
Each role has specific responsibilities but all are united by the goal of empowering the Romanian community in Suffolk through active participation, collaboration, and cultural understanding.
