This series will reintroduce STK and refocus on space mission design. After learning the basics from the A series, we can now expand our analysis by bringing in information from STK for things like access times. This allows us design a spacecraft to match the conditions in which it will be used. This series will focus on "Budgeting" - using information from access times to make certain the mission is a success. These scenarios will require information from STK to complete, however, CSV files will be provided with the scenario files that contain the information (when possible).
This lesson shows the key information in STK that teams need to properly analyse a 'data budget'. Further, this lesson shows how to export this information as a CSV to allow for more detailed analysis in a spreadsheet. Supplemental Lessons on Solving Methods can be found HERE.
This lesson shows how to take the exported CSV reports from the STK lesson, bring them into Sheets, and the basics of using these reports to obtain key values that can better support the solving of QR2 style scenarios. Supplemental Lessons on Solving Methods can be found HERE.
This scenario features a simple 'data budget' in which data is constantly generated from a source and must be relayed to another target. Students must select the rate of data generation, the amount of storage space, and the transmission rate. Students will need to check the times of contacts in order to properly complete the task (CSVs are advised).
