About Intra

We (Intra International or Intra Int’l) are a Cameroon-based business specialised in the fields of translation, interpretation, event planning and event management, amongst others. We provide quality and professional services in the above and related fields. We offer online and on-site services to clients both in Cameroon, in Africa and all over the world.

The Intra story begins with two words: passion and need. The passion side of the story is discussed in detail in the What Defines Intra section of this site. The other side of the story – the need – sprang from a desire to bridge a communication gap between peoples who have so much in common (training, job, hobby, dream, etc.) that they can’t share because of a single difference: they speak different languages.

The problem is compounded by the elusive and fictitious ideas people have:

  • Translation and interpretation are seen by many as a last resort, and as such they do it reluctantly and generally at the last minute;

  • Everyone thinks they can translate or interpret either because they can ‘speak’ a foreign language or because they did some translation exercises back in school;

  • The costs translation and interpretation are underestimated because people aren’t aware of the amount of research work and training required to render quality translation and interpretation services…

The outcome is obvious: poor and low quality translation and interpretation services!

When people finally discover translation and interpretation are indispensable for their business and administration, they have recourse to emergency solutions, and therefore inaccurate services. And, instead of hiring professionals, matters are made worse by entrusting such demanding tasks to anyone who claims to be ‘bilingual’ because “professional translation and interpretation services are very costly”, they say. This might be true, and it ought to be so, if these services are considered independently. But, if compared to all the other costs incurred by the individual or company for drafting, editing, documentation, reproduction, etc. of the same documents, it is but obvious that the cost of translation represents nothing. What about the costs of interpretation services? Are they more than the costs of renting a hall, inviting participants and speakers, hosting them in suitable hotels, paying sessions allowances, hiring the necessary equipment, among many others?...

Regarding event planning and management services, how many events have been a failure simply because of negligence (or over confidence)? Failure lies in the details… success too. US statesman, Abraham Lincoln, once said: “If I had eight hours to chop down a tree, I’d spend six sharpening my ax.” People, unfortunately, take less time to plan and focus more on the result or outcome.
