There are two different issues at play here. If you are encountering words in English such as "sports equipment" and say you don't know how to sign it, I want to know what part do you not know how to sign?

1) You don't know the signs for "SPORTS" and "EQUIPMENT"? --> Then I would say you should review vocabulary

2) You don't know how to tackle the concept? --> Then it might be a processing issue that we have to learn to manage.

3) You know you need to expand, you know that you should use a list of examples of sports equipment, but you don't know the signs for "BALL", "FOOTBALL HELMET", ETC. --> Then I would say you should review vocabulary.

The point I'm trying to make is that sometimes I hear students say they need more vocabulary, when what they really need is to just use the vocabulary they already know in different ways. Many English words don't have "signs" for them, and we just have to determine the meaning and then use the signs we have to expand on and explain the meaning to our audience. If you want more vocabulary so that you can provide a more word for word Interpretation. Then you don't need more vocabulary.

As you went through the classes a LOT of vocabulary was thrown at you, it's normal for some of those signs not to "stick". Go through the playlists and fill in those gaps.

ASL Dictionaries -- Suggested use. I suggest going through ALL the signs. Start with A and go through Z -- 10-15 minutes at a time. This will reinforce and validate the signs that you DO know and fill in the gaps for the signs you don't know.

I love Bill Vicars' videos because he shows a list of vocabulary, but he signs them with a student present so the lesson is more dynamic. He can catch common production errors and answer questions about what context the signs are best used for.
