Student Union Building (the “SUB”) is a 67,000 square foot, 3 story building that features many different amenities for students, faculty and staff, including a sky walk that connects the building to the library. Inside there's a Starbucks and Wayne’s convenience store where students can use Flex dollars that are a part of their meal plan. The SUB also has a dining hall, ball room, theater, apparel store, game room and computer lab.

Donnelly Library was built in 1966 and named after Thomas C. Donnelly, who was the tenth and longest serving President of New Mexico Highlands University (1952-1970). There are also study rooms and lounge areas on the upper levels of the library lined by a delightful collection of New Mexican art.

Ilfeld Auditorium was built in 1920 and was named after Adele Ilfeld, wife of Charles Ilfeld, who donated 40 thousand dollars to the building project. The auditorium hosts events such as plays, weekly movies (which are free to students with their school ID's), concerts, and talent shows. It's considered a premier example of Romanesque Revival architecture, listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Douglas Hall was designed in 1928 by John Gaw Meem, renowned for developing the Pueblo Revivial style. Originally the building was called Douglas Avenue School, and was actually the first public elementary school in Northern New Mexico Territory. The Dean of Arts and Science and the Humanities Department are located here. The classes offered in this building include English, History, Culture, Language and Political Science.

The Stu Clark building is home to the wrestling team, NMHU hall of fame, as well as the football offices; it's connected to a 6,000 square foot weight room. Leveo and Patricia Family Stadium is where football and women’s soccer practice and compete; the track, used for track and cross country practice, is open to the community. Softball and baseball fields are behind Patricia Family Stadium. John A. Wilson Complex is a 4,250 seat two level arena built in 1985. NMHU’s men’s and women’s basketball as well as women’s volleyball teams all practice and compete in this facility. There are also exercise and sport sciences classrooms, a wellness center for students, staff and faculty, and an athletic training room.
