When it comes to marketing, a few strategies are used to get consumers to buy products from companies. One recently implemented strategy that comes to mind is influencer marketing. This cultural artifact significantly shapes present-day culture and consumer behavior. It's almost scary how compatible social media influencers are with marketing. The start of influencers in the marketing space can be seen during the early 2010s with the rise of platforms like Instagram and YouTube. More Recently around 2018, we also started to see influencers within the content creation space be used in this strategy. In the article The History of Influencers: Impact on Society and Businesses by Bryce Bilodeau he talks about the history of influencers and when they became big in the market space becoming relevant around 2018. “By 2018, consumers caught on to the fact that influencers are trying to sell them something by leveraging their brand.” (Bilodeau, Bryce, The History of Influencers: Impact on Society and Businesses,2024). Social Media Influencers have transformed marketing and interpersonal relationships by creating a form of trust and authenticity in consumer engagement.
