This assessment tool is for educators working in an infant room. This is a ministry assessment tool that is used to assess the quality of the child care center. Each age group/classroom has a different assessment outline, however, I am most familiar with this one as I used it before in my studies to assess the quality of an infant room in a child care center - Humber's Early Years Child Care Center. With this assessment tool, educators can use it to ensure their classroom meets the diverse needs of each child and family so that each child can develop to their fullest potential in a quality classroom.
This assessment can be used as a tool to determine child development, specifically for infants. This assessment gives educators and parents an idea about where their child is in their development. This assessment allows educators to focus more on areas that the child has yet to develop and they can assess if the child requires further intervention.
This assessment can be used as a general indicator of where a child is in their development. However, this is in no way meant to serve as a medical diagnosis or guaranteed to give an accurate result. The results may be inaccurate based on the observation, time of day, and other influential factors.
Use this tool as a guide to get an idea of your child's development and create experiences for the child(ren) based on skills they have yet to achieve to promote further development.
