Since its inception in 1963 by Mgr Jean Margéot, Action Familiale has stood as a beacon of community support for over five decades. Originally rooted in family planning and sexual education, its mission has expanded to encompass the holistic well-being of both adults and children, all while upholding its fundamental values.

Over the years, Action Familiale has evolved, integrating scientific advancements into its programs. What began with rudimentary family planning techniques has blossomed into a comprehensive approach, incorporating sophisticated methods like the Billings and sympto-thermal methods, equipping couples with effective tools for family planning.

Despite its historical ties to the Catholic Church, owing to its founder, Action Familiale asserts its independence, prioritizing scientific principles over religious doctrine. Its services range from education on natural family planning to values-based guidance for couples and families.

Recognizing the pivotal role of youth education, Action Familiale offers robust programs on affectivity, sexuality, and dignity. These initiatives not only prepare young people for the physical and emotional changes of adolescence but also foster healthy relationships and bolster self-esteem.

Beyond education, Action Familiale is actively involved in community initiatives, including projects to prevent domestic violence and promote the comprehensive development of children and adolescents.

In addition to its extensive outreach, Action Familiale's impact is evident in its widespread network, comprising dedicated educators and supervisors, reaching approximately 13,000 students annually across state, private, and denominational schools, including Rodrigues. This commitment extends to family planning services, with over sixty educators and supervisors providing instruction on natural family planning methods.
