Like other aspects of a multi-tiered system of supports, Intensifying Literacy Instruction works best when supported by an effective and diverse multi-disciplinary team (MDT). Identifying team members and establishing terms of reference for your MDT lay the groundwork for successfully intensifying literacy instruction with your students.

MDTs will probably need to meet weekly to engage in planning for Intensifying Literacy Instruction. Sometimes they will conduct general meetings where they will review access to Tier 2 and Tier 3 intervention, review fidelity data, update team members about barriers and needs, and approximately 3 times per year evaluate response to Tier 2 intervention. When a team determines that intensification is required for a given student, they will conduct an initial Individualized Intensive Intervention Plan meeting with all stakeholders. At per-determined intervals , the team will meet to evaluate IIIPs. Agendas for each of the meetings can be found below.
