大学院修士・博士後期課程で,原子核分裂の時に放出される中性子数の測定を行った.これには,薄膜シンチレーション検出器,Si表面障壁型検出器を用いたが,私は原子核物理よりも放射線検出器に興味を持った.
以来,Si表面障壁型検出器の応答特性,超伝導体検出器,InSb化合物半導体検出器,Si-Si接合,エネルギー分解X線コンピュータ断層撮影用transXend検出器,低雑音電流敏感型前置増幅器VIECの研究を行ってきた.
現在は,京都大学名誉教授,日本原子力研究開発機構・客員研究員,日本原子力学会英文誌・特別編集委員.
In the days of master and doctor courses at Kyoto University, I was working on the measurement of numbers of neutrons emitted by nuclear fission process. For this measurement, I used thin film scintillation detectors and Si surface barrier detectors. These detectors fascinated me.
Since then, I studied the response of Si surface barrier detectors, super-conducting detectors, InSb compound semiconductor detector, Si-Si bonding, a transXend detector for energy-resolved X-ray computed tomography, and a low-noise current-sensitive preamplifier VIEC.
Now, I am an Emeritus Professor of Kyoto University, a visiting scientist at the Japan Atomic Energy Agency, and an Exective Editor of the Journal of Nuclear Science and Technology.
