Whilst there is still some reading in Paper 2, it is a writing paper. The two main aspects of the test are as follows:
1. Directed Writing - In this section, students use, develop and evaluate the information in one or two prescribed text in order to create their own letter, speech or feature article. Student have to refer to the ideas in the texts that they are given to read, but the majority of their marks comes from being able to efficiently and effectively communicate a point-of-view related to these ideas.
2. Composition - This is the creative writing aspect of the course. Students will respond to one of four prompts by either completing a piece of descriptive writing or by writing a narrative.
The exam is 2 hours in total. It's recommended that you spend that time in the following way:
60 minutes - Directed Writing
60 minutes - Composition
