1. Research Needs

Through international joint research, we have acquired the latest Bend-Twist Coupled blade design technology 

To provide the world's best blades design technology in Korea 

To promote the international level of renewable energy technology through international joint research .

2. Purpose and Goal

Development of manual control bending - torsion soft blade technology

- Bending through shape or material coupling - Development of technology to achieve blade loading through Feathering or Stall through torsional ductility

- Reduce CAPEX and increase production power by reducing the blade through bending - twist ductility

- Development of new blade design to induce bending - Torsional ductility by simultaneous coupling of shape and material

-100 kW system, and based on this, mega-watt system application method is presented through the development of scaling technique

3. R & D Direction and Goals

        Establishment of reference model

ㅇ Construction and measurement of 100 kW wind turbine as a comparison standard

- Measures of comparison, such as load , power , rotational speed , pitch angle , blade tip deformation

- Load measurement such as blade root bending moment , tower bending moment, etc.

ㅇ Numerical model design of 100kw standard wind turbine generator

- Perform numerical aerodynamic design for 100kW model which is a comparison standard.

- Perform multidisciplinary optimal design that simultaneously performs aerodynamic design , structural design , and aeroelastic design for numerical model development .

BTC blade numerical design

ㅇ Shape-guided design of blade BTC ductile deformation

- Application of geometric soft induction technique such as Swept blade

- Study on the design of the unbraded cross section and the longitudinal direction through the change of the lamination angle of the composite material to induce BTC ductile deformation

- Research to prevent reduction of structural stiffness in bending spindle by ductile deformation induction

ㅇ Simultaneous consideration of shape and material of BTC ductile deformation Hybrid design method

- Simplifies the mutual disadvantages by simultaneously considering ductile deformation by shape and material properties and effectively enhancing the effect of BTC deformation

Verification by comparison

ㅇ Static test for 100kW BTC blade

- Fabrication of 100kW thread scale BTC blade based on WP2 design

- Design verification by measurement of blade weight , natural frequency , structural damping coefficient , ductility effect of bending - torsion through static load test

ㅇ 100kw thread scale field measurement and dynamic experiment

- Perform static experiments by installing static scale BTC blade thread scale on 100kw system

- Power , pitch angle , rotational speed , bending deformation , and torsional deformation are measured through ultrasonic sensors , strain gages, etc.

ㅇ Comparison of numerical analysis results and test results

- Comparison of numerical analysis results between reference system and BTC mounting system

- Numerical analysis results of BTC mounting system and comparison with measured values ​​of empirical system
