A Communication Passport is a document telling others how to communicate with a young person. This means that the professional, carer, family member or friend can build a stronger relationship with the person.
Remember: Communication means how someone sends and receives messages like their feelings, wishes and views. This could be using vocal speech, an iPad, sign language and so on.

Communication passports should be positive. Promoting good relationships and not drawing on behaviours, barriers or difficulties.
Although the passport is to support others, it's a good idea to create it in agreement with and in the design of the young person who has the communication needs.
