Here is another Salvia that is a big winner for us. Salvia exserta (previously known as Salvia praeclara) has often been called "Salvia coccinea on steroids". This plant is a vigorous grower and easily reaches heights of 5 to 6 feet. A bonus for us is that this plant reseeds in our zone 4/5 garden. We have had this plant come back from seed intermittently in previous gardening seasons. The plant died out in our garden and we hope that we can germinate this from some old seeds for our 2026 garden.
