Unlike the straight species of Salvia elegans or Salvia elegans Rockin Golden Delicious which does not bloom until the fall (unless one forces it to bloom by limiting the number of hours of daylight beginning in mid-summer), this variety of Salvia elegans will bloom in mid-summer until frost. It is very satisfying to see hummingbirds at these flowers. For those who live in Wisconsin, we found this at Ebert's Greenhouse Village in Ixonia. This plant has been located at that nursery amongst the herbs (instead of located with other salvias).
