Since 1897, our mission has been to create high-quality, community-led productions and provide memorable, accessible musical theatre experiences for members and audiences alike. For over a century we have done this voluntarily and without regular funding, relying solely on community fundraising events, sponsorship and good will from the public.

Ticket Sponsorship Scheme

Give the Gift of Theatre

Want to make a real difference in people’s lives through the joy of theatre? Our Ticket Sponsorship Scheme lets your business buy tickets in blocks of 10, which we then give directly to our local community partners who support disadvantaged and marginalised groups.

Many people don’t get the chance to experience the thrill, inspiration, and connection that live theatre brings. But by sponsoring tickets, you open the doors to unforgettable nights out by creating memories, sparking creativity, and supporting meaningful cultural engagement within the communities who need it the most.

Every year, our productions bring together hundreds of audience members from across Hull and beyond - families, arts lovers, schools, and local supporters - and we sell about 850 professionally printed programmes across each of our full-scale stage musicals.

Cash Donations

Theatre is magic - but it doesn't come cheap.

We believe in the power of performance to build confidence, bring people together, and create unforgettable moments on stage and off. But producing a full-scale musical doesn’t just take talent and passion - it takes some serious investment.

From costumes and sets to rights, venue hire, sound equipment, and live musicians, our stage musical shows generally cost between £15,000 and £22,000 to bring to life on stage. We work hard to keep costs down, and raise funds through fundraiser concerts and events, but we often need a helping hand!

That’s where you come in.

By making a donation - big or small - you help us:

Keep ticket prices affordable for local families
Offer life-changing opportunities performers of all ages and backgrounds
Continue creating high-quality, inclusive productions that celebrate community and creativity

We're don't have access to charitable grants or wealthy patrons... but we do have you. And every donation honestly makes a difference.

Offer Your Expertise

We need stars behind the scenes too.

HMTC is run by passionate and skilled volunteers, and we’re proud of every sequin, spotlight and standing ovation that we’ve earned over the last 130 years. But to keep growing, we need more than jazz hands and high notes... we need additional brains, strategy, and support.

Members with this expertise are of course welcome to join the committee and guide from within, but we're actively looking for allies outside of our community who can help us:

Write funding bids with support of the committee
Lead us through the process of becoming a charity or CIO
Fundraise creatively on our behalf - from raffles to galas to sponsored skydives and beyond
Connect us with sponsors or donors
Or even schmooze philanthropists for us!

Our Committee are incredible, but we need additional practical help to enhance what we're already achieving and overcome barriers we experience as a company.
