Spanning three centuries, Hull Musical Theatre Company is one of the oldest companies in the area, having originally established in 1897 as the Hull Amateur Operatic Society, and later becoming the Hull Musical Society.
The Amateur Operatic Society was first mentioned in a local publication in May 1897 following the success of the St. James' Choir in 'Trial by Jury' that month. On 30 July 1897, it was also reported that the Grand Theatre would showcase Hull Amateur Operatic Society's first performance of of H.M.S Pinafore between 20-21 December 1987.
Fast forward to nearly 130 years later and Hull Musical Theatre Company still continues to produce top-quality shows for the enjoyment of its members and the general public.
