This work is a collaborative international project completed together with artist Chiu Dwo. It began with a series of workshops and an in-store display area, bringing together over 100 participants to respond creatively to the theme of Picasso’s Flower of Peace. After the workshops, Chiu and I co-developed the final concept, drawing inspiration from Taiwan’s unique iron window grilles and floral fabrics to create two vibrant paintings that reflect the diverse and flourishing spirit of local culture.
The design of the paintings is rooted in Taiwan’s distinctive artisanal traditions—particularly the iconic iron window grilles (tie chuang hua) and classic floral prints. These elements serve as the central visual language of the work. By placing the iron window grille at the structural core of the composition, we not only echo the theme of the project but also embed a deeply local cultural vocabulary, expressing the resilience and vitality of this island.
Within the framework of the grille, we incorporated images created by workshop participants, transforming the work into a collective creation that weaves together traditional craftsmanship, contemporary creativity, and community participation. This reflects the core message we hope to convey: "On this island, regardless of background or ethnicity, true peaceful coexistence can be realized through mutual understanding and co-creation."
The final work will be exhibited at the Musée Picasso in Paris, alongside artworks from 25 cities around the world, collectively interpreting the shared human vision of peace through painting.
