CALL FOR ABSTRACTS & PANEL PROPOSALS

Himalayan Policy Research Conference (HPRC 2022)

The Nepal Study Center at University of New Mexico (NSCUNM) http://nepalstudycenter.unm.edu/index.htm is pleased to announce the 17th Annual Himalayan Policy Research Conference (HPRC) to be held this December in a virtual format. The dates of the webinar will be Saturday December 3rd & Sunday December 4th, 2022.

TOPICS:

We invite you to submit an abstract of your research, recently completed or in progress, in the fields of health, development, democracy, governance, or the environment. We consider these fields broadly as encompassing socio-economic growth (macro or sectoral), violent conflict and political processes, institutional development, governance and administrative reform, poverty and income distribution, education and health, regional development, gender and ethnicity, trade and remittances, aid and foreign direct investment, resource and environmental management, climate change, biodiversity, sustainable community development, public-private partnership in technology and investment, child labor, and many other issues.

SPECIAL PANELS

We invite proposals from scholars and practitioners to organize special panels covering different areas in social sciences. Topics are open. Please reach out directly to Dr. Prakash Adhikari (adhik1p@cmich.edu) with your proposed panel theme, along with anticipated panelists. (See below for details on submission guidelines.)

SUBMISSION DEADLINES:

● Abstract Acceptance Notice: October 14, 2022

● RSVP Deadline: October 31, 2022

● Final Paper Submission Deadline: November 19, 2022

● Conference: December 3-4, 2022

● Maximum 350 Words Abstract* Addressing:

o Problem Statement/Research Question

o Data & Analysis Methods (Qualitative or Quantitative)

o Preliminary Results

o Policy Implications

* Abstracts Longer Than This Limit Will Not Be Considered

PANEL PROPOSAL SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

● Session title and abstract (250-word limit), 

● Name, affiliation, and contact information of session organizers, 

● Titles and abstracts of proposed papers (250 word limit each).

CONFERENCE REGISTRATION: Conference registration (no charge) will be required for attendance, upon which, the event Zoom link will be provided.

CONFERENCE PROCEEDINGS: All HRPC submission abstracts will be published as conference proceedings unless requested otherwise. Past papers and proceedings can be accessed via Nepal Study Center’s Himalayan Research Paper Archive.
