Data Dimension Measurement
Case Study Background
In their pursuit of data excellence, TC established robust data availability practices. TC implemented an Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) to integrate data across multiple departments, deployed real-time data access tools for process mining, and introduced a data accessibility framework to define ownership and access permissions. Recognizing the importance of data security, TC implemented IoT-specific cybersecurity measures to protect against threats, employed encryption for sensitive data and enforced strict access control through role-based permissions.
Data quality was a central focus, involving comprehensive data profiling to identify issues, automated data cleansing routines to correct errors, and the establishment of a robust data governance framework with assigned data stewards. Enhancing data explainability was a priority, achieved through centralized metadata management and standardized documentation practices, making data context and usage rules clear. To safeguard privacy, comprehensive data privacy policies were created in compliance with regulations like the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), anonymization techniques were employed for testing data, and employees underwent regular privacy training to ensure compliance, extending these practices to third-party vendors.
