沿堅尼地道興建的多間大宅之一。這些歐式大宅大多在19世紀後期和20世紀初期建成。這段期間灣仔發展迅速，堅尼地道和海濱一帶已蓋滿樓宇。 1921年，拖延多時的海旁東填海計劃終於落實，灣仔才得以進一步發展。

One of many mansions built along Kennedy Road. These European-style terraces and mansions were mostly built in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The period saw a rapid development of Wan Chai in which the area between Kennedy Raod and the waterfront was fully occupied. The next stage of development of Wanchai did not commence until 1921 whn the Praya East Reclamation Scheme finally got under way, after prolonged delay.

基立學校及聖母聖衣堂（煉靈堂）Ki Lap School and Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church (Holy Souls Church)

聖堂落成於1950年7月16日聖母聖衣瞻禮當天，由耶穌會港區會長賴詒恩神父祝聖奠基石和主任司鐸理雅各神父主持大禮彌撒，聖堂名為「煉靈堂」。煉靈堂內設有基立學校，為區內兒童提供教育。1957年，煉靈堂易名為「聖母聖衣堂」。隨著時代變遷，學生人數減少，基立學於1994年完成了歷史使命後結束。

The current church situated in the historical site of St. Francis Xavier Chapel, which was the place of worship for Catholic faithful in the Wanchai area as early as 1845. There were religious communities, Catholic hospital, and homes for abandoned babies and blind women. The new church, named as named “Holy Souls Church”, was opened in 19 July 1950, which was the feast day of Our Lady of Mount Carmel. In 1957, the church was renamed to "Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church”.

Luk Kwok Hotel and New Seashore 六國飯店與海皮

六國飯店 - 蘇絲黃出身的地方。小説「蘇絲黃的世界」在1957年創作，其作者李察美臣筆下的南國飯店，即以這間酒店及後面的酒吧為藍本。酒店於1933年開業時，是灣仔海旁最高的樓宇之一，足有六層高。該址在1980年代後期重建。

Luk Kwok Hoel, birthplace of Suzie Wong. The Nam Kok Hoel, featured in the 1957 novel "The World of Suzie Wong" by auhor Richard Masson, was based on this hotel and the bars behind it. When the hotel was opened in 1933, it was one of the Wan Chai waterfront's tallest buildings then at the towering height of six storeys. The site was redeveloped in the late 1980s.

不同時期到訪香港的水手和士兵，定必記得在圖中所見的灣仔唐樓列排的酒吧和紋身店。這些樓宇建於1930年代初期，灣仔填海計劃剛完成。自此灣仔海傍由海傍東（莊士敦道）擴展至告士打道。 1960年代所進行的另一次填海工程吧海岸綫再向北推移。

Generations of sailors and soldiers visiting Hong Kong would doubtlessly remember Wan Chai with its rowsof bars and tattoo parlours operated in the tenements as seen in this photograph. All these buildings date back to the early 1930s after the completion of the Wan Chai Reclamation Scheme. which extended the waterfront from the old Praya East (Johnston Road) to Gloucester Road. Another major reclamation in teh 1960s pushed the coastline further northward.
