Army

Origin Date: June 14, 1775

 On 14 June 1775, the Continental Army was formed by the Second Continental Congress so the 13 American colonies could fight back against the British forces. George Washington was elected Commander-In-Chief of the Army, and he would lead the colonies to victory and independence. This was not only the start of the US Military, but also the start of the military’s first branch, the Army.
