The evolution of theological education from its roots in training clergy for missionary work to its current emphasis on equipping the entire church reflects a profound shift in approach and purpose. Initially, theological education primarily focused on preparing clergy to address the void left by reduced missionary presence. As societal and ecclesiastical needs changed over time, there emerged recognition of the broader call within the church to engage and impact communities effectively. The church's acknowledgment of the need for more workers underscores the importance of grassroots theological training. By decentralizing theological education and bringing it closer to local communities, churches can empower individuals at all levels to actively participate in their mission agenda. This grassroots approach not only enhances accessibility but also ensures that theological insights are applied practically and effectively within diverse cultural and societal settings.
