In 1966, a master thesis showed that modern dance increased flexibility and body balance in college freshman football players in a control trial [Neppel 1966].
Another study in Indonesia showed aerobic dance training significantly improved agility, flexibility and dribbling ability of inter-collegiate male football players [Sridhar 2017].
Apart from football, a randomised clinical trial in Jamaica comparing the effect of video game dance training with ladder drills on agility of elite volleyball players. The video game dance training group demonstrated a significantly greater improvement in agility scores compared with the ladder drills group [Roopchand-Martin 2018].
Moreover, a Sweden group showed dance training has a positive effect on speed and agility and on joint mobility and muscle flexibility in flexion–extension and lateral flexion of the spine in young cross-country skiers [Alricsson 2003].
