The Departments of History, EVS and EVE organised a Vaze Hackathon on the occasion of the World Environment Day. This year’s theme was desertification, land restoration and drought resilience. This unique event began by a session by the Resource Person and Judge of the Hackathon, Ms. Alisha Chandran which was followed by the competition wherein the participants presented their ‘hacks’ or solution for the problem statement given in the brochure. The problem statement was, “How can we integrate scientific research, conservation strategies, and creative communication to develop a comprehensive solution that manages water resources in drought affected areas of Maharashtra and promotes drought resilience?” The participants presented their solutions using posters or ppt presentations. Two winners were selected by our judge. The event had favourable feedback from the audience.

Exhibition
The students of TYBA History put up an exhibition on the history of Lesser Known Movements in India’s Freedom Struggle on the occasion of Independence Day.
The Department organised a workshop on ‘Recent Trends in India: Influence of Korean Culture’ as part of CC Cultural. The workshop consisted of an exploration of the prolific spread of Korean Culture in India. The workshop covered the influence of Korean culture through music, drama, food and the beauty and skincare industries. The students did preliminary research on the topics and the workshop was followed by a group discussion on how India can also follow Korea’s example in the spread of its culture.
The Department of History organised a Heritage Preservation and Cleanliness Drive at the Mhasoba Temple, Mulund East, Mumbai, as part of the Community Engagement Week. The purpose of this visit was to assess the conditions of the historical temple and understand its significance to the local Koli community. Observations revealed that the temple is currently in a poor state. Sewage water was being allowed to flow in the direction of the temple. This has resulted in the contamination of sanctum sanctorum, where sewage accumulates rather than clean water, as was traditionally the case. This desecration has caused distress to the community, who view the temple as a sacred site. The students and faculty of the Department of History helped the community to clean the premises of the temples. The students also interviewed the visitors of the Mourya Pond if they knew about the Mhasoba Temple. It was found that even the locals living in the vicinity did not know about the temple or about its rich cultural and historical legacy. This was also one of the grievances of the community, that the locals do not know about this local heritage.
The Department organised Jashn-e-Zaika: A Culinary Journey of Medieval Times, a food festival in which various dishes of Medieval India were recreated by the students of TYBA History. Medieval India's culinary traditions were characterised by a rich tapestry of flavours and ingredients, influenced by regional diversity and cultural exchanges. It was a period when elaborate dishes and a variety of sweets added a special touch to the meals. This period marked a significant evolution in Indian cuisine, emphasising both taste and artistry. The department celebrated this legacy by putting up food stalls with various dishes like biryani, kebab, jalebi, korma, etc.
