"Rebellious Serfs at Wawne"
During this time it was seen in many cases that people would show signs of rebellion against the local lords. Servants in this case became stubborn and refused to give their service. As a result, in this case, the rebel ringleaders (3 of 4) were imprisoned. One of the serfs escaped and claimed to another lord that he and his family were descendants of royal serfs.
During the time of the plague many people, out of fear and desperation, turned against their leaders/lords. Many wanted to move up on the Feudal system to improve their way of living. So many people died of disease and as a result many serfs were freed to leave their lord's land and find better work and wage. This dismantled Feudalism that was set in place at the time.
