18. John MacDonald, Schoolmaster of Lochcarron & Tacksman Scoraig & Crobeg

According to the private publication "My Place", the children of John Macdonald (b 22nd Feb 1776, Corry; m 2nd June 1802; d 16th Jan 1865, Stornoway) and Mary Ross (Miiri Laghach) Maciver (b 1st Jan 1786, Stornoway; d 5th July 1869, Stornoway) were:-
Angus Macdonald (Postmaster Hudson Bay Company) 1807-1881, born at Scoraig, Little Loch Broom, married Ann Maclean . They had one daughter Jessie Macdonald 1832-1895 who married Andrew Gibson 1820-1904, moved to Duluth, Minnesota and had nine children. Later settled in Aberdeen.
Isabella Macdonald 1809-1886, born at Scoraig, Little Loch Broom, married Kenneth Mackenzie 1792-1862. They had six children - Alexander Mackenzie 1834-1894, John Mackenzie 1836-1903, Mary Mackenzie 1839-1983, Jessie Mackenzie 1842-1901, Kenneth Mackenzie 1844- ?.
Roderick Macdonald (Editor of Piclou Observer) 1811-1869, born at Scoraig, Little Loch Broom, married Johanna Mackay. They migrated to Canada in 1835, settled at Woodstock, Ontario and had five children - Roderick Macdonald, John Macdonald, Lucy Macdonald (Louisa), Mary Ross Macdonald, Georgina Elizabeth Macdonald.
Female Macdonald twin, born Little Loch Broom 1811, died in infancy.
Male Macdonald twin, born Little Loch Broom 1811, died in infancy.
Alexander Mackenzie Macdonald (Captain of East Indian trader) 1814-1871, born at Scoraig, Little Loch Broom, married Annabella Stewart died 1873. They had eleven children - Elizabeth Muir Macdonald born 1849 married Alfred John Pratt; John Macdonald 1852-1921/1922; Rev Robert Stewart Macdonald 1855-1819, married Florence Mary Prichard then Mary Dorothy Hardy; Woodbine Stewart Macdonald 1855- ? married Helen Holden; Mary Macdonald 1897-1917 did not marry; Alexander Reid Macdonald 1858-1925 migrated to Canada and married Matilda Errington; Annabella Stewart Macdonald 1860-1933 did not marry; Marion Ross Macdonald 1862-1943 married Alexander Barker Bassett; Stewart Muir Macdonald 1864-1927 married Lillian Ada Charnley Maudsley; Edith Campbell Macdonald 1865/66-1938 married Edward Littleton Gething; Charles Edward Macdonald 1867/68-1942 married Elsa von Herkomer.
Anne Macdonald 1816-1891, born Scoraig, Little Loch Broom, married John Macfarlane and they had nine children - John Finlayson Macfarlane 1844-1908; Alexander Malcolm Macfarlane 1846-1916; Malcolm Macfarlane died in infancy; Angus Roderick Macfarlane 1848-1908; Mary Anne Macfarlane 1850-1920; Murdo Donald Macfarlane 1852-1930; Norman Campbell Macfarlane 1853-1933; Malcolm John Macfarlane 1855-1857; Roderick Robert Macfarlane 1868-1937.
Murdo John Macdonald 1819-1878 (2/11/1874?), (Merchant of Stornoway) born Scoraig, Little Loch Broom married (7/4/1853) Jane (Jean) MacRae (1823-28/10/1882 Killin), daughter of Rev William MacRae minister of Barvas. Their children were Rev William John Macdonald 1855-1902 married Alexes Macmillan; still born twin and Roderick Evander Macdonald who died aged 13, John Robert Macdonald 1859-1929.

Donald Maciver Macdonald 1822-1892 (Ground officer of Uig), born at Scoraig, Little Loch Broom married Jessie Macleod and had seven children - Catherine Macdonald born 1852 died young; Mary Maciver Macdonald 1854-1917 married Angus Macphael; Margaret Shaw Macdonald 1858-1926 unmarried; Johann Macdonald 1860 - ? married Rev Peter Macdonald; Rev Norman Charles Macdonald 1867-1944 unmarried; Donald or David Roderick Macdonald 1871 - ?; Charles Macdonald died young.
Mary Macdonald 1826-1826, born at Scoraig, Little Loch Broom.
Johanna Macdonald born 1829 at Scoraig, Little Loch Broom married Captain James Carswell and had four children - Jean Glen Carswell born 1849; John Carswell 1851-1937; James Carswell born 1854; Andrew Carswell born 1858.
