I went to University of California, Riverside. I wanted to go to UCR because the majority of my friends went to the University of California, Irvine, so I wanted to divers from the group and to explore other options. University of California, Irvine was talked up to be more fancy that riverside. Like a mansion vs a rundown apartment, that type of thing so I wanted to explore the less nice option. I was also curious about campus life and the majors/minors they offered. I thought it would be fun to explore the less popular college for college day.
Some things that stood out was how much green that surrounded the school inside and out. Another thing that stood out to me was the 161 foot bell tower in the center of the school. Something I learned, is that UCR was the school to genetically modify oranges to be able to peel with your hands and they have basically created the cutie and halo. Another thing I learned is that there are scheduled time and places to scream and cry with other students if needed. The blue and gold plan, is a plan that if your parents make under 88 thousand a year then your tuition is paid for by the school.
I think the most exciting thing for me is the art major they have, for me is nice to know that the way to apply for their art program is also the way to apply for university. When we had a break for lunch I had already adapted to the surroundings and I felt like I was at home with UCR. UCR has exceeded my expectations. My expectation was super low at first but going threw the campus has actually made me want to go to UCR as well, which, I have been told, is good to have more colleges to apply to. This was my first time doing college day, and with the experience I have had with UCR, I am excited for future college days to come.
