The Hopkins High School Trap Club Lettering program set forth in this policy is designed to be an equivalent to other Varsity lettering requirements consistent with this high school’s sports.
Objective of the program:
To offer high school athletic status to shooting sport student athletes.
To recognize the accomplishments and time commitment of shooting sport student athletes with a varsity letter.
To award those who meet the requirements as defined by the high school. (it should be noted that official high school athletic recognition is important to college applicants).
Qualifications and Requirements for lettering
To be eligible for the Hopkins High School Trap Club Lettering Program, the shooting sport student athlete must meet the following criteria:
Athlete must be a student of Hopkins Public Schools #270.
MSHSL Bylaw 104 Home School Students: Minnesota Statutes allow home schooled students to be eligible to participate in league sponsored activities for the public school in their resident school district attendance area.
Athlete must abide by Hopkins Public Schools activity Requirements, and in addition must adhere to all school district rules, policies and procedures concerning student activities including, but not limited to, attendance, conduct, and academic eligibility.
Performance Letter - Athlete must have a competitive season averaged of 21.
Average being determined by weekly recorded scores during scheduled competition. Only the average as designated by the MSHSCTL will count towards lettering.
OR
Performance Letter - A Perfect score of 25 at any Conference meet or State Championship meet where the school is officially registered as a competitive squad.
OR
Participation Letter - Three years of participation on the Trap team Must be a member in good standing. Missing no more than one practice per season while enrolled at Hopkins High School.
Unexcused absence is defined as failure to notify the Head Coach, coaching staff, or team administrator of your absence due to illness or family/personal issues.
Please note - Athletes who participate for three years and are enrolled at the Junior High level are not considered to be enrolled at Hopkins High School therefore are not eligible to receive a “participation letter”. Athletes must be enrolled at Hopkins High School for three years in order to be considered for a participation letter.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS:
The Hopkins High School Head Coach reserves the right to letter a student who, due to circumstances beyond their control, can not complete the prerequisites of requirements but has been a productive contributor and demonstrated good shooting etiquette, sportsmanship and teamwork.
The Hopkins High School Head Coach reserves the right to withhold letters from athletes who display conduct and attitude detrimental to the team, regardless of the number points earned or criteria met during the season.
